About Me
Hello! My name is Lei (pronounced as "lay"); in Chinese it means a flower bud waiting to bloom - mama gave me that name. I was born in a small village in China where soil is red and orange trees grow all over the hills.
After calling Changde, Xiamen, Beijing, Adelaide, Santa Cruz, NYC, Zurich, Shanghai, Hangzhou home, currently I dwell in San Jose, California. I love farmers markets, brunches and deep conversations. I drink both tea and coffee. I may appear shy when we first meet. Yet old friends call me "crazy" and "hilarious".
Big life questions like "who am I" "what do I believe" "what will be my legacy" never stop haunting me. Career & personal growth is essential to me. Relationships are my biggest motivators. I believe work can be meaningful, enjoyable and fulfilling. I hope to work at a place that encourages growth and cares about individuals; I hope to work with smart, driven and kind people; I hope my work leaves positive marks in people’s lives and on mother earth. I know it’s a privilege to hope for those things.
I joined the tech industry because I was convinced of tech’s potential to make the world a better place (faster), and I like the comparatively flat, transparent and autonomous culture. I’ve worked on eLearning and eCommerce; I see the common theme in my trajectory has been international platforms/ecosystems that connect people and resources to improve access to opportunities. I’ve worked in both U.S. and China on various functions: user support, community building, project management, operations, UX design, market analysis, content strategy, etc. I try to learn something new every day.
I Believe
We are all connected, part of something larger.
It's people that makes all the difference.
Everybody can learn anything.
Comparison is the thief of happiness.
Diversity begets creativity.
Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
